Hello you! My name is Cora Casper, I am a Gen Z artist and a new producer, and this past MN Fringe Festival was my first time producing a show in a traditional venue. As a teenager, it was incredibly impactful for me to see young women represented truthfully on stage, and so it became my goal to create a show that could have a similar impact on other girls. MN Fringe allowed me to fulfill this dream without going completely broke. For a lot of people, Fringe is the only way to produce theatre affordably, and unfortunately if MN Fringe does not raise enough money soon, producer fees could double. I want other artists to have the opportunity I did, and I would also like the opportunity to produce again in coming years. As we see cuts to arts funding, it is important that we come together to preserve the opportunity for lower-income artists to share their stories and create meaningful work. Let's be real- times are tough, and we owe it to each other to try to keep the spaces that offer a glimmer of hope alive and thriving. If you feel moved to give money to the arts, this would be a great place to donate.
