Help us raise money for Yalla Drum! our community drum ensemble program
New Arab American Theater Works program Yalla Drum! teaches local community to play traditional Arabic percussion instruments in an ensemble environment, and provides an opportunity for the larger Twin Cities to interact with our rich traditions.
We are seeking funding for Yalla Drum! ensembles growth by continuous training, and also by adding more drummers to the group as we expand.
We are planning to start a youth ensemble in 2021!
We strive to pass our rich traditions onto future generations, offering them the opportunity to experience the music in and from our communities. We believe that creating spaces to share our multiple traditions strengthens solidarity with each other.
New Arab American Theater Works was founded as a collective of Minnesota based Arab, Arab American and Muslim Theater artists with a wide variety of strengths as writers, performers, educators, and theater makers who have been presenting theater locally, nationally and internationally for over 20 years. We have worked together, and in the broader community, in many capacities including non-profit, education, and professional theater. We created a collective to present new theater works by Arab Americans to fill a void in the local and national scene where Arab American theater artists lack voice and opportunities to present our own stories.
We are a proud member of the national MENA Theater Makers Alliance.
