$2,500 goal

The Minnesota Dragonfly Society is eager to get started with our educational programs this summer. Our goal since our inception has been to get people excited about our favorite flying insect while contributing to the actual science of dragonflies and damselflies in Minnesota. Learning about dragonflies is a great family fun. We sponsor and collaborate with other nature conservancy organizations to create Identification Workshops and provide use of field supplies. We hope to raise $2500 to purchase stereo microscopes and youth microscopes to enhance our workshops. Insects are crucial to life on earth. Some pollinate our food crops and natural areas. Some are decomposers. Dragonflies and damselflies are insects that prey upon other insects like pesky biting mosquitos, gnats, midges, horseflies and black flies. Additional they feed on insects that feed on our crops like beetles, aphids and more.

We hope to help you see our favorite insects close up and learn about how dragonflies and damselflies benefit us. Connecting with nature makes us healthier and happier. We welcome you to experience the beautiful dragonflies!
