YWCA Duluth has been helping to strengthen the community since 1893. Our mission is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. With this mission we have become a catalyst for community change focused on the empowerment of women, girls and female identifying individuals as well as the elimination of racism.

We serve the community with our Spirit Valley Young Mothers Housing Program, our Spirit Valley Early Childcare Education Center, GirlPower! after school and lunch program, and our GirlPower! Summer Camp.

GirlPower! serves female identifying youth with an after school, lunch, and summer day camp program. Utilizing accredited Girls Inc. leadership curriculum, STEM (sceince, technology, engineering, and math) activities and experiments, race and gender justice activities, economic and media literacy education, field trips, academic support, and more GirlPower! works hard to provide participants with a variety of engaging and empowering experiences that leave them feeling strong, smart, and bold.

At our Spirit Valley Young Mothers Program we work with mothers aged 16-21 to offer a safe place to live and offer supportive serves for 12-16 months. Our goal is to stabilize young moms and put them on a path to self-sufficiency.

The Spirit Valley Early Childhood Education Center provides childcare with an innovative curriculum designed to entertain, motivate, and educate young minds. The center serves 93% low income families and 60% children of color.

As an organization we have two large needs right now.

The Spirit Valley building that houses our Young Mothers Program is in dire need of some maintenance that is above and beyond our annual budget. With your contribution we can make the necessary repairs.

Many of our staff are also working with outdated technology. Not only does this slow us down, but it takes time away that can be spent working with the young mothers and the children in our programs.

Through the generosity of the Lahti Family Foundation we have been offered a match to all donations made for Give to the Max of up to $5000. We would love your help in unlocking this funding to allow us to better serve the Twin Ports community.

Through your contributions we are able to serve female identifying individuals; empowering the the leaders of tomorrow.
