I live on East Lake Street, Minneapolis, and I have called East Lake Street home for several years. This year was a surreal, uncertain, and painful time to live on East Lake Street as our neighborhood and neighbors experienced the death of George Floyd, the unrest, and the destruction that ensued here in the days and weeks following his death.
I could write about the pain and suffering I witnessed in our neighborhood. But, I'll tell you instead about some of the counter-balancing love, hope, care, and justice that transpired here. My beloved YWCA Minneapolis, whose mission is to 'eliminate racism and empower women,' converted overnight into a distribution center designed to support our neighbors most in-need with food, supplies, and care.
My friends, just LOOK at YWCA Minneapolis's impact as of November 2020:
50,490+ Food Kits Distributed
$497,000 worth of personal hygiene and household products distributed
86% of recipients said food/supplies improved their future outlook
...Were it not for the YWCA Minneapolis during these past months, my 'future outlook' would be grim. This special organization continues to feed my hope, optimism, and belief in change.
The need is still great.
I am raising $$$$ to support the YWCA Minneapolis and their social service, racial justice, health and wellness, and early childhood education programs. We've got less than a week, but your donation will continue to advance the well-being of Minneapolis and the beautiful people calling this home.

You're all amazing, thank you for your consideration and love.
