HoneyWorks is a small arts organization lead by Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer, Berit Ahlgren. HoneyWorks is not interested in isolating dance in the dance field, nor making work that is relevant for only individuals with similar artistic training. As an organization based in a collaborative spirit, we aim to create truly unique performances that expand both dance and other artistic fields by uniting the two, and ultimately encouraging others-- in all walks of life-- to live more inclusively with the people and planet around us. With a curiosity for problem solving, the creative process employs innovative means to find solutions to unique scenarios that arise in exploring art across mediums. In doing so, we encourage our students, audiences, and companions to find opportunities not only to recognize differences, but to highlight similarities and work together acknowledging both as a means to find greater understanding within a diverse community. HoneyWorks believes in unity, justice and impartiality—politically, ethically, and socially— to highlight people in their purest ways possible while supporting a sense of curiosity, wonder and delight that unites the elemental human spirit.
Your donation to HoneyWorks goes directly to supporting the performing artists involved in the company's 2022-23 season. HELP US FINISH THE SEASON STRONG WITH A CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS GIVE EAR, JUNE 8-11, 2023, AT THE SOUTHERN THEATER.
What was your favorite sense? For many of us it is taste, yes, but what about the ability to hear moving music, tune in to an inspiring lecture, enjoy the sounds of nature out on a hike? These are privileges to those of us not hard of hearing, and those moments to stop and LISTEN with intent is what Give Ear is all about. This unique dance-theater work is poised to be performed in 2023, but we need your support to bring this thought provoking piece to stage!
HoneyWorks choreographer Berit Ahlgren and The Moving Company's Producing Artistic Director Nathan Keepers were expected to premiere Give Ear in March 2020 through the Cowles Center's Merges in March series. Due to the pandemic, the production was cancelled and later premiered as a documentary film following the artists as they navigated the task of re-staging the work in 2021. Now 3 years after its expected premiere, the original cast has the opportunity to finally perform this piece at the Southern Theater, June 8-11, 2023. With your support, we can pay the artists competitive wages for their time, support transportation costs, and produce an impactful performance for audiences of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy.
HoneyWorks needs $15,000 to safely produce Give Ear. Your donation will ensure our 9 performing artists and Lighting Designer are compensated fairly, our artists coming from out of town are covered in transportation and housing costs, our marketing is supportive to bringing in new audiences, and our costs for rehearsal space, costumes and props are accounted for.
Will you join us with your gift of $50 or more? Thank you so much for your trust in our work and your generous investment. We look forward to sharing Give Ear with you in June!
