With the COVID-19 outbreak evolving every day, your support makes it possible for the Y to be flexible and innovative. We know that this is an uncertain time for everyone and your support means so much to us.

Health and Wellness doesn’t stop at our doors

Your Y is dedicated to making sure our members and the community stay HEALTHY AT HOME. Through virtual wellness offerings, we are keeping families, seniors, and individuals active, engaged and thriving. Through wellness check-in calls with members, your Y is making sure their needs are met and connecting people to critical governmental and nonprofit community services.

Committed to feeding youth in our community

 One in seven children in the U.S. is fighting hunger. Because of COVID-19-related school closings, these kids are even more at risk.  Your Y has mobilized with its community partners to set up Grab & Go and Drive Through meal sites to ensure kids and teens have access to nutritious food while maintaining social distance. 

Caring for the children of those who are on the front lines caring for us

The Y is providing school-aged youth with enrichment programming in partnership with the school district and providing priority child care to emergency and essential workers. Through our Early Childhood Development Centers in Hermantown and Grand Marais, we are continuing to care for our little friends, while their families care for us. As always, the Y is dedicated to removing barriers to care and financial assistance continues to be available to those who need us most.

THE ROAD AHEAD

As the current situation evolves, we know that the need for emergency child care for essential personnel will grow exponentially. A high quality, trained staff that is ready to mobilize is essential. When people return to work and their children are still out of school, the need for Y child care will be higher than ever. We need to retain our high quality, trained staff for the benefit of these families and the children who depend on us. When our Ys reopen, we know that our community will quickly return to their Y. We know our community will be craving the connection that we have all been denied and the Y is where so many in our community connect with others. The YMCA must be ready.
