HELP EL AMOR DE PATRICIA MEET THEIR $25,000 MATCH

Dear Friends:

Our family is sponsoring this fundraising page on behalf of El Amor de Patricia, an organization in Guatemala that we care deeply about.  

As many of you know, our family was to go on a mission trip this past summer as part of this wonderful organization. Because of COVID, we were not able to go on our trip. 

COVID has hit all of us. For some, it has meant a new meaning to the word "togetherness" as we navigate virtual school and work all in the confines of our homes. For others, it has meant lost jobs or even loved ones. All of us are learning how to navigate this world socially distance for all to be safe.

This past week, my family came down with COVID. What felt like a cold was really the illness that has pushed our world into a pandemic. As we quarantined and recovered, I couldn't help but think about all the luxuries we have; we can order our groceries online and have them hand-delivered to our house within a few hours. We can even order Chipotle - our favorite -  to be delivered to our door with no need to see or touch anyone. We might be restless sitting in our house, but we are not without. Unfortunately, this is not the case for everyone. 

As my family and I have followed this wonderful organization on social media, we have been struck by children or family members holding white flags, a symbol that their family is without food. It is so heartbreaking to see!

El Amor is on the front lines, helping these families make sure they do not go hungry. In fact, every two weeks, volunteers are delivering two weeks' worth of food to over 525 families. These families are currently out of work due to job closures and no public transportation.  They are in great need of our support to help feed these families. Will you consider a small donation to help make sure these families survive this pandemic? 

In addition to the COVID relief, El Amor de Patricia has several other projects that need our support: 

1) A  necessary and beautiful home for vulnerable children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned.

2) The Bunk Bed Project, which brings beds to children in some of the most poverty-stricken villages in Guatemala.  

3) El Amor also provides stoves for clean air and water filters for clean water.  

4) In addition, there is an education program that supports children in various communities to attend private school, get homework help, and food for their families to help them succeed.  

5) And finally, El Amor is building an English Immersion school in their adopted village of Yalu.  Children will be taught a rigorous curriculum that includes critical thinking skills. 

El Amor de Patricia simply could not serve the most vulnerable children, families, and communities in Guatemala without your help.
