I do not express often enough how fortunate I feel to be a part of the work at Lower Phalen Creek Project. It is a privilege to be able to work with Dakota community members on environmental restoration, education, and cultural connections projects, all taking place on Dakota lands. It is truly a rare opportunity to place Indigenous knowledge perspectives front and center in environmental and cultural projects, and even rarer to be able to share this work with the diverse communities that make up the East Side of St. Paul. I am so proud of the work we do and I invite you to join me in supporting our efforts!

Park and greenspace usage has skyrocketed with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Right now, more than ever, we need spaces that ground us and process the stressful moments in our lives. We need outdoor spaces that connect us with our neighborhood and community, and spaces that support the wider Mississippi River ecosystem.

Our work at Lower Phalen Creek Project centers on supporting and nourishing all aspects of this ecosystem from a critically needed Dakota perspective. Donate today and not only will you support our mission to engage people to honor and care for our natural places and the sacred sites and cultural value within them, you will help us unlock more than $13,000 in challenge dollars!

A gift of $25 will cover 500 sq feet with native prairie grass

A gift of $50 will plant 36 native wildflowers

A gift of $100 will plant 2 trees

We regularly offer community programs, from volunteer restoration work to educational events like Winter Storytelling, Wildlife Tracking, and Native Plant Walks. A gift of $250 will support one of our many guest speakers and ensure we can continue to collaborate with knowledge keepers in our community.

Much of the restoration work at Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary is accomplished by youth volunteers, and many of the plants you see in our green spaces today were planted with the help of elementary and high school students. A generous gift of $500 will support one of our youth-led restoration projects.

Your generous gift of $1,000 or more will support large-scale events like our annual Pollinator Festival and will demonstrate your deep commitment to a vibrant and thriving East Side ecosystem.

All gifts will be recognized and celebrated in our annual report!
