FIVE HOURS TO GO

Update posted 5 years ago

We have just five hours to go, and we are 70% to our goal! Just ten more people giving a gift of $150 will put us at our financial goal. But, let's be real: our real goal isn't about the money, it is about providing the basic needs to folks who otherwise would go without. That is the goal we are really working toward. Thank you for that!

Providing warmth and dignity to those in need through gifts of new socks and underwear.

There is a desperate need for clean socks and underwear among the homeless and underprivileged in Minnesota.

Your gift will allow The Drawer to maximize our ability to respond to the growing population of homeless, unemployed, and underemployed in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.

Hardships and obstacles stemming from the pandemic have afflicted nearly all of us on some level; some are struggling with distance learning, while others long for the ability to interact with others. Unfortunately, for many Minnesotan families, loss of work or health difficulties have made it hard to provide the most basic needs:  socks and underwear.

At The Drawer, we work with community organizations, individuals, and other partners to collect donations of new socks and underwear, which are then distributed through social service agencies, on the streets, in schools, and at community meals and food shelves.

Unfortunately,  the need for the services The Drawer offers exceeds our current capability.  That is why your financial support is greater than ever.

In order to keep up with current demand, The Drawer needs to grow. We have identified three areas of development that will most efficiently increase our giving capabilities: leadership; warehouse space; and expertise competence.  Our goal is to hire a part-time executive director to lead the organization to the next level; find a larger warehouse facility with room for volunteers to gather;  and professionalize our volunteer management, marketing, and inventory systems.

We appreciate any level of giving you are able to share. On behalf of our neighbors, friends, and families in need: Thank you.
