Join our family and friends on September 27, 2014 to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and raise needed funds for NAMI.

$1,330

raised by 20 people

$1,500 goal

One in 10 children are diagnosed with some form of mental illness. Many children, because of stigma, ignorance, and fear, do not receive mental heath services for several years following the first symptoms of their disease, which causes prolonged and undue suffering.  With the support and endorsement of a child, we formed a team to walk in the NAMI Walks event on September 24, 2011.  We also walked in 2012 and 2013 in Minneapolis. We are hoping many of our family and friends will be able to walk with us again on September 27, 2014.

During the year "Team Fawkes" will continue to participate in  National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) activities to support their free programming, their community education efforts, and their lobbying efforts.

We support NAMI because it is our hope that the stigma attached to mental illness will someday be a thing of the past. Once this happens, people will be able to openly ask for help and seek needed services.

Let's unite behind our one in ten children who are not defined by their disease; they are defined by their spirit and resilience.  They can and do rise from the ashes.

Sometimes the face of mental illness is the face of a child. Team Fawkes walks for the children.
