Twin Cities Recovery Project, Inc. is raising money to support us over 2021. Over the past year, TCRP has overcome a number of obstacles in our mission of supporting the community in their recovery journey. During the pandemic, services for Black Americans have been more necessary than ever, with our community being affected disproportionally by COVID-19.

TCRP has had to find new ways to continue providing support to community members. We had begun to increase our output of Street Outreach, starting the Street Ambassadors Outreach Team that went out weekly to provide PPE, Harm Reduction equipment, masks, hand sanitizer, food, socks, blankets, hygiene kits, and more. Additionally, TCRP partnered with SAMHSA and FEMA to form the Crisis Counseling Program, which provided outreach and education around COVID-19 on the street in different locations in Minneapolis.

In addition to outreach, TCRP has had to find new ways to provide Social Wellness programs during the pandemic. Prior to March of 2020, TCRP was hosting a weekly social club that allowed people who are new in recovery to meet others in a healthy environment, proving that recovery can be fun.

Since March, we have had to find new ways to implement social wellness, such as doing virtual bingo games, and finding activities to do outdoors. Last summer, TCRP started the Ride for Justice Bike Club in memory of the life of George Floyd. The Ride for Justice Bike Club is a weekly group that gets together on Saturdays to ride the trails in Minneapolis, and encourages healthy activity while remaining safe.

Our social wellness and outreach opportunities have been our most necessary programs in this time, due to the response we've been hearing from our participants. While these programs have been incredibly important, it's been difficult to find grant opportunities that have allowed us to finance these programs. Due to this, we've had to rely on donations and community partnerships to help fund these programs. We will be using contributions from our Spring Forward campaign to host more social wellness events, and to purchase items such as hygiene products, clothes, socks, and PPE for street outreach.
