Life is full of journeys and you never know when the next one will present itself!  This September, Lisa Machmeier, Diane Neglio, Susan Cain and Ellen Rindal will embark on the final 100 kilometers of the Camino FrancĂ©s, also known as the French Way.

This five-day, 62-mile trek will begin in Sarria, Spain, and end in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. But this journey is about more than miles walked, it’s about raising awareness and funds for Smile Network International, a nonprofit transforming the lives of children born with cleft lip and palate around the world.

Why We Walk

Our mission is to raise $10,000 to sponsor life-changing surgeries for children in LeĂłn, Mexico. Thanks to a generous private donor, the first $5,000 donated will be matched dollar for dollar.

Each donation goes directly toward the cost of surgery, ensuring that every child has the opportunity for a healthy, confident smile. We are personally covering all travel and trekking expenses so that 100% of your contribution goes to the cause.

Smile Network International is a Minnesota-based nonprofit that provides free cleft lip and palate surgeries in under-resourced communities globally. These surgeries don’t just repair smiles—they restore health, dignity, and opportunity. What makes Smile Network extraordinary is the volunteer spirit: all medical professionals donate their time and expertise to make these missions possible.

How You Can Help

Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. For as little as $500, a child can receive a surgery that will change their life forever. Your support is tax-deductible, meaning you can make an impact while benefiting from a charitable deduction.

By joining us on this journey—through your generosity—you’re helping children receive the care and future they deserve. A child’s first smile can change everything: it can mean the chance to eat without pain, speak without fear, and walk into school with confidence instead of shame.

This September, we walk for smiles. Together, we can give the gift of a brighter future.

Join us in changing lives—one step at a time.
