Prospect Park Association has six active committees: Community BuildingRenter's Sub- CommitteeEnvironmentTransportation and Safety, Land Use and DesignAdmin and Finance. Here are just some of the examples of projects and activities that PPA has been busy with since the pandemic started in 2020.

* PPA advocated for “Fast Track” construction of the Arthur Ave to Williams walkway so Prospect Park children can walk directly from Pratt School to Glendale Townhomes or Luxton Park.

* Formed a new Renters’ rights sub-committee with the mission to empower renters through connection, education, and advocacy.

* Held a two-week Earth Day Clean Up and storm drain cleaning event.

* Co-sponsored the “Who Keeps Us Save” speaker series on public safety with the Prospect Park Anti-racism Organization.  See the workshop videos here.

* The Environment Committee's Home Energy Initiative "25% by 2025" with the goal to reduce natural gas use in residential homes.

*The Transportation and Safety Committee's Traffic Calming project on Malcolm Avenue to ensure Pratt school children using the playground have safe access.

* The Land Use Committee created Design Standard Guidelines directed toward “hotel, apartment, condo, single family homes, duplexes Tri and four-plexs, and businesses for retail, manufacturing or maker spaces” developer engagement. These tools help set the tone and communicate the community’s expectations, perspective and history.

* PPA facilitated raising $5,000 from our community to make it possible for East Side Community Services to offer an after school program during the pandemic. The program serves Pratt School children and children living in Glendale Townhomes.

* PPA contributed $2,000 to Defend Glendale’s Mutual Aid Project for public housing residents .

* PPA received a Good Neighbor Fund grant to increase participation of students and public housing residents in the the 2020 Census.

* Upcoming Event: Garden Walk and Plant Sale on June 26

AND all this done during a pandemic while reducing PPA staff from full-time to half-time and navigating a major funding transition.

Each time you donate, we are entered in the pool to receive an $1,000 Golden Ticket (drawn daily) or a $250 Golden Ticket.  More details can be found here.
