After numerous drownings at Minneapolis Lakes due to inexperienced or non-swimmers, the In 2015 People for Parks board of directors seeded a $5,000 swim lesson scholarship fund for Minneapolis children from lower-income homes. The scholarships fund proved to be a huge success and we have increased our funding to $7,500 in 2016! We need your help to fund scholarships and make a difference for Minneapolis children.
The scholarship fund provides $50 of the $55 class fee for the 2 week, eight lesson course at Webber Natural Swimming Pool, Jim Lupient Water Park, North Commons Water Park, Nokomis Main Beach and Wirth Lake Beach.
