Trauma-focused Training in St. Vincent

Desmond is a "barrel child". His mom works on a cruise ship for 6 - 9 months at a time. She sends him clothes and food (they come in a barrel) and sees him twice a year. Help us fund a mentor program so he (and many others) can get more adult support and individual attention.

To help children and adolescents who have been traumatized in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, we designed a 3-tiered intervention plan:

1) mentor training, 

2) Stephen Ministry training, and 

3) mental wellness and spiritual counseling training.

We have enrolled mentors and initiated mentor training (step 1 of the plan). We want to pick up with mentor training and have a pilot program for one year, learn and modify the program, and expand to serve more significant numbers of children.

Thanks to a matching grant from a generous family, the Stephen Ministry training is fully funded! We expect Stephen Ministry to serve children and adolescents and then expand to adults.
