Children’s Law Center of Minnesota (CLC) promotes the legal and human rights of our community’s foster children. CLC staff and volunteer attorneys will represent over 800 abused and neglected children this year.
Why is CLC important?
- CLC advocates for children's rights and guides these frightened children through their complicated foster care journey.
- We provide a consistent adult who empowers them to speak for themselves and works to secure access to the resources available to them.
- Our clients are most vulnerable to the impacts of the pandemic, and we continue to represent them, advocate for court changes and train current and new volunteers.
What is the need?
Over 16,000 children experience foster care in Minnesota each year. Those youth who are ten years old and older are entitled to their own attorney to represent their wishes and needs in the complex legal arena of child protection. Over 323 volunteer attorneys provide pro bono legal representation,
