Thank you for Building the Box and creating a new creative, community space in St. Paul!
raised by 78 people
Thank you for helping us celebrate the public opening of Springboard’s new home! We have successfully completed this campaign. Additional support to this campaign will be used to invest in ongoing improvements to our new space on University Avenue.
Please read below for our campaign archive.
Made possible by our generous supporters, our new space will serve as a welcoming creative hub for community members and artists. Located at the intersection of the Little Mekong, Frogtown, and Rondo neighborhoods of St. Paul, the building features include:
- Outdoor green space and flexible plaza for community events
- Innovative rainwater reclamation and solar power systems for environmental responsibility
- Public art designed by local artists emphasizing creative people power, environmental stewardship, and Native presence
- An expanded resource lab and offices, and
- Open areas for creative collaborations among artists and neighborhood partners.
Designed as a flexible campus, the new building will allow us to host festivals, readings, performances, exhibitions, neighborhood activities, retail pop-ups and fairs, mobile and temporary art projects and installations, placemaking activities, national workshops and convenings, and the many creative uses artists will imagine.
While we are so excited to open our new space, our work is not done. We still need to raise an additional $500,000 to pay off our capital loans and fund ongoing programming and community use of this site. With an immediate goal to raise $100,000 by the end of 2021, we invite you to make a gift today.
To celebrate all of our supporters who want to invest in our new home, we are extending our campaign donor recognition program through the end of 2021. If you have not given already or would like to increase your donation, please make a gift by December 31, in honor of Springboard’s grand opening year. For gifts of $1200 or more, you can choose your own wood block to be custom laser cut with your name. Gifts of all sizes needed and welcome. Choose your own wood block to be custom laser cut with your name, and your block will be installed as a permanent part of the building.
