2023 is the 15th anniversary of Public Art Saint Paul's Sidewalk Poetry Program! In the past 15 years, Public Art Saint Paul has collaborated with the City of Saint Paul to stamp over 1,200 poems onto the sidewalks of the City.

Sidewalk Poetry began with previous Public Art Saint Paul City Artist Marcus Young in 2008 under the name “Everyday Poems for City Sidewalks”. This program has evolved and grown over the past 15 years to reflect the voices of Saint Paul. In 2019, Public Art Saint Paul expanded the poetry contest to accept poem submissions in 5 languages: Dakota, Hmong, Somali, Spanish, and English.

2023's Sidewalk Poetry Contest will accept 15 new poems to add to our Sidewalk Poetry collection. All residents of Saint Paul are automatically eligible to submit their poetry in any of the accepted languages. No writing or publishing experience is necessary!

Help us reach our goal so we can bring fresh poetry to the sidewalks of Saint Paul in 2023!
