So far in 2020, my team at The Link CORE, served 104 different youth singles and families who were experiencing homelessness in Dakota County. They visited our Drop-in Center 511 times. For some of these youth, this is the ONLY time that they are inside.
Of those 104 youth:
-33 of them were/are sleeping in places not meant for human habitation including their cars, outside, riding the train, engaging in survival sex, bus stops, trap houses or just staying awake and walking around all night
-3 of them were under the age of 18
-13 of are members of the LGBTQ+ community
-70 of them were youth of color
The Drop-In Center provides basic needs to young people including food, clothing, winter gear, sex safe items, showers, connections to employment, education, mental/physical/chemical/prenatal health and county benefits, laundry, bus tokens, assessments for housing services and case management.
Please donate to my fundraising page so CORE can provide the best services possible to homeless youth in the suburban metro area.
