What our customers are saying about Rumriver Art Center:
I had no idea what a life changing place the Rum River Arts Center would be for me when an acquaintance told me about the fun class she was taking last summer. In the midst of covid, I knew I needed something to keep my mind focused on the positive things in life and I enrolled in a hand built pottery class. The scholarships available made it possible for me to try out something that I had always wanted to do. I quickly renewed my passion for art and loved my first class! I have taken several different classes since, all online due to covid this year, and it has been truly the best thing I could have done! The instructors are excellent and the variety of courses offered make it really difficult for me to decide what I want to learn next. As a student in the Vitality Arts program, My love for art has been rekindled and I am enjoying the connections that are being made in my RRAC community! I am so grateful for the dedicated and passionate people that work hard to create a such a rich learning environment.
Would give 10 stars if I could. This is the first google review I’ve ever left and felt compelled because this is just such an amazing place for in person or virtual classes for families/kids/etc. My family always leaves feeling accomplished, refreshed and that we have learned many new things...both artistic skills as well as art history. I’ve not found anything else like it and we drive 30 miles to attend a class when we can.
Great virtual art classes that have helped keep me sane throughout this Covid pandemic! I’ll forever be grateful to RRAC for continually scheduling these courses free of charge and providing a great opportunity to let the creativity flow!
If you think you don’t have an artistic bone in your body, check out this place. Everyone on staff is most welcoming and encouraging. You will find yourself becoming more confident and enjoying creating art.
My daughter loves art and RRAC has provided her with instruction and inspiration. The most recent class she took was on-line. She is pretty skeptical of on-line classes, but it's art, which she loves, so I thought I would give it a try. She created three pieces of beautiful artwork in an hour and was delighted. I loved it so much, I asked her to teach me, which also reinforced her learning. I love my artwork, too! This class sparked a lot of joy in my daughter, which is the best gift I could ask for. Thank you!
Rumriver Art Center has been a welcoming life line during this unprecedented time. One of very few Art Centers to offer quality engaging virtual classes taught by knowledgeable and skilled artists of their craft. A broad range of mediums offered for kids to adults of all skill levels. I commend the art centers team’s dedication and foresight in recognizing the need within their community and the world for virtual art classes. The majority of US art centers and councils cancelled classes until further notice. Not Rumriver! The way we live ours lives has changed and they embraced the change and went virtual with their classes. I can not express enough how they have made a positive impact in my life daily during this time of isolation.
The Rumriver Art Center, like many other non-profits and businesses, has suffered during this unprecedented COVID-19 crisis. We were forced to close the art center for the months of March, April and May and cancel all classes and workshops. In addition we canceled 2 of our annual fundraisers. These classes, workshops and the fundraisers are what help us to maintain our operation and keep class fees down. While we were able to reopen in June, the restrictions for capacity did not allow us to recoup from the loss of income. This loss of funds has placed a serious hardship on us as we continue to operate as your community art center.
We have kept our teaching artists employed during this time by offering free classes via Zoom to keep creativity alive and bring joy to our community. We have had over 3,000 participants in our free classes, but we need support to keep providing them. The free virtual art classes are free to participants but cost the art center $150 to produce. There are a variety of costs involved: technology subscription fees, equipment costs, teaching artist wages, etc.
We appreciate any support to help us offset the cost of our free classes and support our general operating expenses. The art center is 95% funded by people like you taking classes and making (tax-deductible) donations. Your donations will help us to stay strong and allow us to continue to provide artistic opportunities to the community.
