Winters in Northern Minnesota can be brutal.

Red Lake companion animals suffer in a very harsh winter climate.  Many also lack basic food and shelter.

Temperatures can reach 50 below zero or colder with the wind chill. Many community dogs have no shelter during this time and many will die without our intervention of straw and dog houses. With your donation, we can purchase straw and dog houses to distribute.

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue maintains a petfood food shelf at our shelter for community members that need help feeding their companion animals.  With your donation, we can help feed someone's best friend.

Red Lake Rosie's shelter receives many dogs and puppies during the winter months. They need to be kept warm, fed, and provided with veterinary care until we can find a rescue that can give them indoor housing.   With your donation, we can provide the care that they need.

Your donation will help to fund  the following:

  • $6  Straw bales (per bale) to keep dogs warm in their outdoor kennels at Red Lake Rosie's shelter or provide warmth and insulation for animals in our community
  • $25 One case of canned food
  • $50 bag of kibble
  • $30 Tarps to wrap our kennels and stop the winter winds
  • $40 Gas to transport sick and injured animals to our shelter, to the vet, or on a transport to a new home
  • $40 Bravecto to treat mange
  • $90-170 Igloo dog houses for use at the shelter and in the community
  • $45-80 Pet Barn Dog house
  • $200 Average costs of a visit to the vet
  • $400 monthly heating bill in the winter
