Thanks to Aja for contributing $25 to our fundraiser! We're nearly to our goal of $7500!

Asian American Organizing Project (AAOP) is a non-partisan, grassroots organizing and civic engagement organization led by young Asian people whom are mostly 35 years old and under, womxn, girls, LGBTQ, student, disabled, and who are or come from families of refugee and immigrant experience.

Our mission is to advance Asian American, refugee, and immigrant participation in democracy for equitable and just society.

We are fundraising $7,500 to support our civic and organizing fellowship program that provides hands-on, community and leadership development of college students and young people. If we reach our goal, we can fund 3 Organizing Fellows for our 2019 Summer Fellowship. The Fellowship focus will be: non-partisan, St. Paul Election engagement and education, and Census 2020 mobilization and outreach.

If we reach our fundraising goal of $7,500 or more, one of our Funders will match whatever amount we raise so we can sustain our organizing staff capacity to achieve our 2019 goals.

The Asian communities are the fastest growing population in Minnesota with over 300,000 calling Minnesota home, and over 136,000 are eligible voters which means the Asian American vote makes up 3.1% of the Minnesota electorate. However, only about 1.9% of Asians in Minnesota are registered and have voted in 2016 Election. For the next three years, AAOP is committed to closing the 1.2% vote gap with our Ignite Minnesota Asian Power (IMAP) coalition of 12 diverse Asian community organizations and groups. We believe that one of the multiple ways to affect institutional and systemic change in Minnesota is through our Asian American voting power; guided by gender justice, raising political consciousness, and providing resources and access to information.

Access Philanthropy Charities is our fiscal sponsor. A tax-deductible contribution made to them is one to us.
