We are excited to be a part of GiveMN's SpringForwardMN giving event, taking place May 1-11. We need your help as we emerge from the pandemic striving to sustain and expand our programming.  We are aiming to raise $30,000 so we can live out all the plans we have for our new school, the Threads Dance Nexus and our vision to better humanity through dance. Funds will assist in providing scholarships to aspiring young dancers, supporting our Youth Dance Project, and more. 2021 marks ten years of Threads—you can help us celebrate 10 more years of Threads when you give during this event.

Every donor who gives over $250 will receive a Threads tote bag, and every donor who gives over $500 will also receive a Threads leather journal!

What am I making possible when I give to Threads this spring?

Building Bridges Program: The Twin Cities pipeline to a professional dance career is not as accessible to BIPOC individuals—and we want to change that. Traditional training for a professional dance career relies on extended periods of unpaid work or a significant financial investment that many BIPOC students simply cannot afford. In response to this need, Threads aims to launch a unique reparations funding model with our Building Bridges program. This program will enable BIPOC students to take classes for free.

Our dancers are employees, not contractors: We are a nonprofit organization that values our artists! Our dancers are employees - not contractors - with guaranteed rehearsals each week and opportunities to perform locally, nationally, and soon, internationally! Your generous donation allows us to keep supporting these valued workers!

Tapestries Choreography Program: As an African American woman, Karen knows the barriers that are unique to Black, Indigenous, and of color people, and all women in the world of dance and choreography. That’s why she started Tapestries, an annual professional choreographer development program that supports three emerging choreographers, with an emphasis on lifting up women and BIPOC artists.

Youth Dance Project: Threads will engage community youth in unique pre-professional dance training to provide the much-needed holistic support of their minds, bodies, and creative spirits. Our mission is to train the next generation of dancers while also empowering the next generation of young people. Up to 20 dancers ages 12 and older will be selected by audition and receive rigorous dance training twice a week during the school year. Exclusive Youth Dance Project classes include ballet, modern, and jazz technique, improvisation, choreography, as well as courses on physical and emotional wellness.
