Combat Social Isolation

Hello all,

We have an urgent request. There is concern about social isolation setting in for PioneerCare residents, given the visitor restrictions and social distancing put in place. These changes are in response to spreading of the COVID-19 virus.

You can do something to help. Our activities staff use a specialized computer cart that is ideal for one-on-one programming. Around here, we call it “Ace.”

It’s loaded with exercise activities, music playlists, and more. Perhaps its biggest potential right now is its ability to interact with Skype, and we see that as an opportunity to keep residents connected to family, friends, visiting pastors, and others. Its large screen, specialized software, and clear graphics make it easier for older eyes to see.

The actual name of the device is iN2L. We’re looking at a mix of two different models: a rolling cart with a large screen called the Mobile FLEX Lite, and a hand-held tablet called the iN2L Focus. The software is a separate cost and is subscription based.

We hope to raise enough funds to purchase more of these devices so they can be more accessible to residents. Our goal is $15,250. This would provide the hardware plus 12 months’ subscription for each device. With your help, we can do this fast.
