$3,000 goal

The goal of the Preserving the Legacy Capital Campaign and Membership Drive is to raise $38,000 to cover the hard costs of  structural projects and establish  (and grow!) Dorothy’s Cabin Endowment Fund for physical building maintenance into the foreseeable future.

WHAT HAVE WE ACHIEVED SO FAR?

  • New shingles on both the Winter and Point Cabins with your help during GTMD2018
  • Foundation Leveling & New Interior Flooring on both the Winter and Point Cabin  for the safety of guests and structural integrity of the cabins with donor help and a grant from the MN Dept of Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation
  • Reglazed 12 windows of the Point Cabin with help from the Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps

WHAT DO WE STILL NEED TO DO?

  • Replace current wood decking, which has shifted and sunk over time, to provide accessible entry to the Winter and Point Cabins
  • Replace the fascia, soffits, gutters and shingles on the Interpretive Center
  • Address drainage issues and foundation repairs on the Interpretive Center
  • Support ongoing maintenance needs associated with aging buildings (new doors, staining exterior walls, plumbing repairs, etc.)

MUSEUM GROWTH

We would also like to see the Museum’s Membership base continue to grow to ensure long-term support of Dorothy’s legacy and secure a sustainable audience for her story.

WE INVITE YOU TO HELP US!

Our goal is to raise $3,000 on November 14 to support funds for matching grant applications. Would you support this effort?
