In Memory of Dad

Last year, my dad entered the hospital just before the Slumber Party when I worked for the South Suburban Humane Society.  I wasn't going to go and my team was ready to lead it in my absence.  My dad insisted I go.  He was so proud of my work with animals and of me.  I went and for 24 hours raised funds and had fun with my SSHS family and Dad was doing fine.  When I returned to the hospital Sunday afternoon, he had taken a turn for the worse and passed away just after midnight on April 8, 2024 with me by his side.

When I knew was not going to be at SSHS and they weren't able to participate in the Slumber Party, I thought that was for the best.  But when my new team decided to join up, I realized this was just what I needed.  I need a new positive association for the Slumber Party and as it's just a few days away from the one-year anniversary of losing the best man who lived, it's an opportunity to do what he would want me to do--live and help animals.
