$4,000 goal

Support the Hamline Midway Coalition Environmental Committee's (HMEC) efforts to grow and give trees in the Midway! Our neighborhood suffers from canopy losses from disease like Dutch Elm, pests like Emerald Ash Borer, and aging Silver Maples. HMEC volunteers are focusing their work on reversing these losses by planting trees.

We are raising funds for a gravel bed and tree saplings. We will build the gravel bed on land owned by a local partner who will donate irrigation. Gravel beds act as an incubator, safely housing bare root trees for 3-6 months while they develop robust root stocks. We will offer them for free to community members, help select appropriate locations, and plant the trees. As these trees grow, they will help us manage shifting climate, provide shade, and add value to our community member's yards.

This project will increase tree species diversity, contribute to our green infrastructure, and grow new connections between branches of our community!
