MACMH’s mission is to promote optimal mental health for children from infancy through young adulthood and we’re honored to be a leader in providing resources and training for educators and professionals in all areas of children's mental health.

After coming through the other side of COVID, MACMH recognized that we need to build on the services we’ve been providing in Minnesota and we are excited to continue and further expand our reach directly to the children and families in communities all around the state.

Did you know that 16.39% of youth between the ages of 12-17 reported suffering from at least one major depressive episode (MDE) in the past year? Young people experienced so many hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic, and many are still struggling to find their way.

The CDC’s Adolescent Behaviors and Experiences Survey (ABES) found that 67% of U.S. high school students reported their schoolwork was more difficult, 55% experienced some emotional abuse in the home, 11% experienced physical abuse, and 24% reported they did not have enough food to eat during the COVID-19 pandemic, all of which can impact a child and have harmful effects on their mental health.

We’re paying attention and ready to meet the growing needs of youth and their families. Reaching out for professional help may not necessarily be the answer and many don’t even have access to care. There are tools that you can learn and teach that young person in your life who may need help navigating their mental health.

Adjusting the ways in which we tend to teach young people how to experience their emotions is a great place to start. Instead of telling them to “swallow” emotions or “suck” it up, let them know that it’s okay to embrace their feelings. By simply putting a name to the emotions they experience and equipping them with techniques to help identify and work through them will go a long way to better mental health for our children.

MACMH is expanding our youth programs, creating more ways to support caregivers and families, establishing quarterly community events, and forming partnerships with corporations and organizations throughout Minnesota and beyond. Our vision for this organization is to be the leading resource for children’s mental health and we need your help to reach that goal.

No donation is too small, but if you commit to supporting MACMH every month, we have a special gift for you.

We thank you for your support!
