A world without youth homelessness is the VISION. The experience of homelessness is not an option.  Over 6,000 youth are homeless in MN right now! The majority of these youth are Black, BIPOC and LGBT.  

Close your eyes and imagine with me.... Outside, with only the clothes on your back.  You have called everyone you know with hopes that you can come by, grab some food, sleep on their couch, be warm. There is no room for you.  Where do you turn.  It's dark out now, all the coffee shops and malls are closed. That $2.25 you have in your pocket only gets you that one bus ride.  So that's where you spend the night. 

Home isn't safe anymore. You have overstayed your welcome at all your friends houses. You are alone, imagining the day when you have your own place, your own bed, your own bathroom, your own kitchen. Doing that one thing you love to do. But tonight, you dream those dreams alone, in the safest place you could find, that bench in that park you used to play in when you were little. 

This is the reality of the experience of homelessness. This is the hard truth.  This is where 6,000 youth find themselves on any given night. Right here in MN. 

I am a Director of the Housing and Supportive Services Division at the Link.  I have the privilege to serve these amazing young people. The reason I do this work is because, these young folks are more than their experiences.  They are the hope that will fuel the fight of the challenges we face today.  They are the dreamers.  They are the one's that can see past what we see today, and know that they will reach the goals that they dream of on those cold lonely nights.  They are fearless.  

My personal mission is to raise $1,000 to help support these young people.  To help them on their journey to realize their dream.  To help show them that the world needs them.  For them to know that they are more than their experiences.

I am fortunate to be a part of The Link, that does amazing work with youth and young adults.  We work alongside them to find stable housing and connect them to the resources they need so that they can become the leaders of the future.
