Life is full of journeys and those who know me, know I thrive on spontaneous journeys and being active.   So where is Monica going now, you say?   In August 2026, I’m setting out on a truly meaningful adventure that taps into my outdoor spirit and also my passion for giving back.  I’ll be walking the final 100 kilometers of the Camino Frances—also known as the French Way—a five-day, 62-mile trek from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

I’m walking not just for the adventure, but for a cause that’s deeply close to my heart: Smile Network International.  Please consider making a donation of any amount.  My goal is to raise $2,500 to fund life-changing surgeries for five children in León, Mexico. These surgeries will help restore their smiles and give them a brighter future.

Every dollar raised will go directly to this mission—I’ll be covering all of my own travel and trek expenses. Your support, encouragement, or 100% tax-deductible donation of any amount will mean the world to me and to the children whose lives and smiles will be changed through your generosity.

For anyone who may be unfamiliar, Smile Network is a Minnesota-based nonprofit dedicated to providing life-changing surgeries for children born with cleft lips and palates. Their mission goes far beyond medicine—it’s about restoring dignity, confidence, and the simple joy of a smile. What makes Smile Network truly remarkable is the generosity behind it. Nearly everyone involved, from the medical teams to volunteers like us, donates their time, expertise, and compassion to bring hope and healing to children around the world.

I am so humbled to be a part of the life-changing work that Smile Network is doing!
