My name is Cynthia Uhrich, and I oversee IN THE MOMENT FILMS. The mission of In the Moment Films is to provide filmmaking opportunities for women both in front of and behind the camera. And, secondly, to make films on topics of social significance. I'm extremely proud of the beautiful work from my all-female crew and by the extraordinary cast. Together, we created the darkly comedic thriller short "Misplaced Trust." I am proud to have served as the film's screenwriter, producer and director. Since September, the film has received two awards for "Best Thriller" and "Best Ensemble" from the Oniros Film Awards, "Best Thriller" and "Best Ensemble" from Hollywood Blood Horror Festival, and is a Finalist in the Mindfield - Albuquerque Film Festival and Indie Short Film Festival, and Semi-Finalist in both the Cyrus Monthly Film Festival of Toronto and the Phoenix Monthly Film Festival. Additionally, the film has earned two Awards of Merit for "Female Filmmaker" and "Short Film" from the IndieFest Film Awards.
These festivals all charge fees ranging from $15 - $75 and it is anticipated that at some point in 2021, there may be some "live" festivals which I will need to attend in order to represent the film. Our plan is to continue to move the film along from smaller festivals to larger and more established festivals--and to give the film the viewership it deserves. We also need to pay for a DCP for (Digital Cinema Platform) file to be made--in the event that we physically are invited to screen in 2021.
Covid-19 has impacted my ability to make a living and I'd prefer to not rely solely on the generosity of one of the film's Executive Producers (Lori Roovers, who also stars in the film) to cover the festival-related expenses needed to support the film's festival trajectory.
