Our Food Shelves have some exciting news!

The Dassel Area Food Shelf is in the process of transforming into a SuperShelf.  (SuperShelf is a pilot project through the University of Minnesota and Health Partners to focus on healthy choices and friendly experiences).  Our Litchfield site transformed last year.

In order to improve access to our food shelves we are also launching our Mobile Food Shelf next month.  This is an exciting project for us.  Our first area of service will be the Cosmos, MN area.

Our Mission: The Meeker Area Food Shelf is a non-profit venture of churches, businesses, community and service agencies to distribute food to those in need.

The Meeker Area Food Shelf provides a 3-5 day supply of food to our community members facing food insecurity.

The Meeker Area Food Shelf helps feed those in our community who are facing food insecurity.  We serve around 200+ families each month which breaks down to 450-550 individuals monthly.

This year, we have also taken a special interest in nutrition.  We make sure our clients have a variety of healthy options to choose from as well as have the opportunity to receive recipes and nutritional information on foods at the food shelf.

We are seeing an increase in the number of people needing our services.  We serve between 450-550 individuals each month!  We are blessed and proud that people in our community know about our services and feel comfortable with our staff and volunteers to ask for help when they need it, but now we are asking for your help.  We wouldn't be able to support our community members in need without the help of our community!

This year due to our increase in client usage, monetary donations are very important to our food shelf.  They allow us to purchase food at a much lower rate through our food bank, allowing us to get more food per dollar than at a grocery store.
