OUR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IS IN JEOPARDY

We pride ourselves on our robust skills development program for MDI employees. This education has allowed us to equip our employees with the skills necessary to grow in their careers – whether it be at MDI or elsewhere. Since 2015, this program has been made possible by an annual appropriation of $450,000 from the State of Minnesota.

This appropriation was reduced to $100,000 per year during the 2019 legislative session. As a result of this 77% drop, MDI recently eliminated four positions who provide skills development and external job placement services for our employees – and we are still short $200,000.

Luckily, we can do something about it. Whether you’re an avid Give to the Max Day contributor or a first-time participant, donating to MDI for this year’s campaign would make a positive, significant impact on our ability to continue serving adults with disabilities.

Through job coaching, training and skill development, people with disabilities cultivate tools for lifelong personal development and growth. Your donation will help provide the services needed for equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities:

  • $5,000 provides career skills training for 5 employees
  • $2,500 gives 10 employees 2 hours of career development coaching
  • $1,000 delivers 80 hours of emotional support to employees
  • $500 means 20 hours of on-the-job skills training
  • $250 provides 5 employees with case management support
  • $100 helps with interviews and resume writing
  • $50 provides classroom materials

Your donation of any amount will make an enormous difference!
