Just keep swimming?

In these unprecedented times, it's becoming more and more challenging or impossible for families to "just keep swimming" in their financial lives. Staying afloat with debt, poor credit or unpaid loans on top of unemployment and underemployment in this pandemic has made it essential for organizations like ours to step up. 

Before the pandemic hit, 1 in 4 Minnesota Families were cost burdened, meaning they are paying so much in rent that they were at risk of not being able to afford food or medicine. (MN Housing Partnership). 

Many families now are struggling to stay afloat, or are treading water. 

We Jump In!

Prepare + Prosper is a non-profit that supports low and mid-income families with free tax preparation, financial coaching and provides a stable and accessible banking option. 

In fact, in 2019 over twelve thousand people filled out their taxes for free and received $25 million in refunds.

As taxes,  finance, and economic justice are on the geekier side of non-profit missions,  during give to the max day, we are encouraged to be our full and authentic selves, showing off our inner geek.

I'm a Swim Geek!

Ever since I was a baby, it was hard to keep me away from the water.  I would swim into September, when the air was cooler than the water! 

Since then I've...

- Was in swim team in middle school

- Cheered on my mom who competed in the Wisconsin Senior Olympics!

- Taught swimming lessons for Foss Swim School

- Taught swimming lessons for the YMCA

- ONE MONTH ago I joined the USA Masters Swim Team!
