The Lake Minnetonka Triathlon raises funds for Interfaith Outreach and the Community for the Commons

$4,320

raised by 21 people

$10,000 goal

In 2018, Mike and Anne Rogers bought the Lake Minnetonka Triathlon, after many years as lead sponsors and participants. Their mission in buying it was simple: turn it into a charitable giving event that raises funds that stay right here in the community. We're happy to announce that as of 2021, we've established two long-term partners so your donations make a huge impact year over year. Below we introduce our partners and exactly what your funds will be used for.  Everything beyond simply the cost of the race goes to these charities.

INTERFAITH OUTREACH

75% will benefit Interfaith Outreach. Interfaith Outreach and its community partners like 360 Financial and the Lake Minnetonka Triathlon align around common goals. Together we can build an entire “ecosystem of support” - families, teachers, schools, community members and organizations—that is needed to bring about true, systemic changes and educational equity for all kids and families in our community.

When you raise funds during the triathlon, your gifts benefits four key areas:

  • Interfaith Outreach’s Caring for Kids (CfK), Caring for Kids (CfK) is the foundational program of Great Expectations that helps ensure our youngest kids get a strong start on the path to success and enter kindergarten ready to succeed,
  • Interfaith Outreach’s Neighborhood Program, provides family, children and senior services on-site to over 800 families living in nine multi-unit affordable housing neighborhoods. Services focus on housing and family stability, school success and community connections,
  • Interfaith Outreach’s Back to School Drive, ensures K-12 students are equipped with the most-needed school supplies to support their learning, whether in the classroom or at home, and
  • The Great Opportunities Scholarship Fund (GO), provides students with financial support to participate in creative, athletic, academic and personal development programs that increase access to opportunities outside of school settings and strengthen community connectedness.

___$1,313 can staff and supply one Neighborhood Program site for one month where youth build relationships with caring adults and access opportunities

___$335 can provide a child's scholarship for one week through Caring for Kids (CfK)

___$100 helps a child participate in one season of community soccer through the Great Opportunities Scholarship Fund

___$65 can provide one student school supplies for a fresh start back to school

EXCELSIOR COMMONS

25% of proceeds will go to the Community of the Commons. We believe it is crucial to support and do our part of maintaining the beautiful area where our triathlon takes place.
