The Link's mission is to work with youth and families to overcome the impacts of poverty and social injustice. I work as a mental health therapist in the Link's Passsageways program - which serves youth 12 to 24 who have either experienced or are at-risk of experiencing sexual exploitation. I provide both short-term crisis counseling and longer-term therapy to youth in our emergency shelter, housing, and mobile case management/aftercare programs.
Youth in our programming have access to a range of services including case management, basic resources, life skills training, a survivor mentor program, on-site nurse and school, and positive youth development activities. Many youth I've worked with say their time at Passageways is the first time they remember feeling safe or wanted. The Link has been--and will continue to be--an absolute lifeline for many in our communities.
Every little bit helps! As a non-profit, we rely heavily on fundraising. We haven't been able to meet our fundraising goals this year due to COVID. I challenge us all to be a part of the change we want to see. It's up to each of us individually to bring good into the world. πΈβοΈπ
