The Iron Range Partnership for Sustainability is working with Rock Ridge Schools to construct a deep winter greenhouse, designed by the University of Minnesota, on campus. This greenhouse will provide instructional space for teaching students to grow food while learning soil science, plant science, and business concepts. The deep winter greenhouse uses passive solar design in order to operate with little to no supplemental energy during Minnesota's cold winters.
