My heart is heavy with everything that is happening in the Twin Cities and across our nation. The anger, sadness, unrest, injustice, loss, fear, and pain cannot be ignored. I don't want to pretend to have the answers or the right words to heal any wounds. To my black sisters and brothers, I'm sorry the systems have failed and still fail you. I SEE you. I HEAR you. I LOVE you.
I want to do my part and help rebuild our community. My parents owned a grocery store not far from Lake Street for over 10 years, it's a vibrant area of the city with the majority of businesses owned by immigrants and people or color, and unfortunately one of areas with a lot of damage in Minneapolis. Lake Street Council is supporting small businesses and nonprofits to help them rebuild their storefronts, reopen their businesses and serve our neighborhoods again.
As my birthday approaches, I'm redirecting celebration with reflection and action as we rebuild our community and humanity.
Thank you in advance for your support.
In solidarity and love,
Lan
