Lacy Nollette, a single mom of two adorable children Emry and Esme, was chosen as a partner family in 2021. Lacy is an Iraq Veteran who works for First Call for Help 211 where she gives back to so many people in need every day. Emry just finished Kindergarten this year and Esme is growing in leaps and bounds since first meeting them last year. Due to increased cost and supply issues, the Affiliate choose to hold off on doing two houses at the same time. Volunteer involvement was still on the low end with COVID still hanging around.

Late in the fall of 2021, the board approved putting in the slab for the Nolette house to allow for construction to start in April vs waiting until July of 2022 to start the build. This worked out to be such a great plan since Itasca Habitat was asked to be a pilot program for a group called Minne Village to come and stay locally while volunteering three full days on the Nollette house.

Since spring, volunteers, civic groups, and businesses have stepped up and come out to volunteer. This has set the house completion on schedule for the end of August. Sub-contractors have gone above and beyond to get in and keep us on track even during their busy season. Another Thank You to all our sub-contractors for the continued partnerships.

Lacy has been putting in many volunteer hours around her busy work and home life. She is asked to contribute 300 hours between her home, helping in the ReStore, and friends, family, and community members willing to donate time to her. Along with putting in hours she has had to make lots of choices in her cabinet color, countertops, flooring, siding color, and even her shingles.

We are so close but not quite ready to get this family into their home. Help us raise $5000 to help finish this home and get them moved in before Christmas.
