FUNDRAISER: OPEN STUDIO!

Our onsite recording studio is a HUGE resource for young artists. Open Studio is an ongoing program that is facilitated by professional sound and recording artists.  Freestyle Fridays is an extension of Open Studio and a way to bring together young studio artists in a monthly freestyle session...get a taste by watching the video above!

Open Studio has two pieces: 

• Youth artists sign up for free recording studio time to produce and record their stories, songs, raps, and beats with a professional studio engineer
• Youth are hired to participate in 8-week paid internships to learn recording, mixing, beat making, and professional sound production using industry standard equipment

Youth who complete the internship can then work in the studio on their own projects, or help other young people have their own successful recording session!

KKC received initial support for this project through a grant from Best Buy. That funding is gone, but it is clear to KKC youth and staff that this project is changing lives and needs to continue.
