Minnesota Fringe has been part of my summer for almost 20 years. The mission of Minnesota Fringe is to connect adventurous artists with adventurous audiences by creating open, supportive forums for free and diverse artistic expression. This year was different in that performances were on video. Still connecting adventurous audiences and adventurous artists.
In my experience, the Fringe draws people in. My first year, I made reservations and went to 2 shows. The next few years, I went to shows based on their descriptions. After that, there were old favorites to go to and other shows in the same space before or after.
Anyone whose number comes up in the lottery has the opportunity to tell their story to audiences who are curious to learn.
Previous Give to The Max funds went to scholarships for artists, so that money is not a barrier for artist participation. This year Give to The Max funds will be use specifically for Black, Indigenous, People of Color, or Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, + artists to participate.
Your donations will help increase diversity in the Minnesota Fringe Festival.
