Uplift JJ Legacy!

The Legacy of Dr. Josie R. Johnson Montessori is a tuition-free K-6 public charter school that includes a tuition-based Preschool in North Minneapolis with a mission to provide an excellent, equitable Montessori education to an intentionally diverse student body. 

The school is a community of educational social justice leaders orchestrated by Tonicia and Jamal Abdur Salaam.  The community is founded in Montessori pedagogy and actualizes its mission with additional evidence-based practices, specifically, Dr. Wade Nobles' world-renowned research and pedagogy, Nsaka SunSum (Touching the Spirit). This powerful pedagogy offers a full educational experience that honors the whole child in order to combat white supremacy in education. 

At JJ Legacy, we intentionally center children, holding them with care, as they construct their cultural and racial identity, along with their purpose in the learning environment.  JJ Legacy offers an education that honors the spirit and cultural experience of more than 120 children each school year.  JJ Legacy is working harder than ever to ensure that our scholars and their families receive intensive support during this tumultuous time. 

In this unprecedented time, we are raising funds for the following initiatives at JJ Legacy:

• Tuition support for our preschool program

• Establish an outdoor learning environment that supports the large motor development of our students OFF of the blacktop!

• Montessori Materials In Every Home We need to send materials home to give children the tools they need at home to extend their learning beyond the screen during distance learning. 

• Books - Every child deserves a set of self-selected books from our partners at Scholastica. 

In addition, your donation can also provide:
