Jessenland Historical and Cultural Center is a proud steward of the rich heritage of Minnesota’s first organized township and the vibrant cultural traditions of our early settlers — particularly those of Irish, German, and French descent who made Jessenland their home. The Jessenland Historical and Cultural Center is the focal point of Jessenland Township, the state's oldest Irish farming community, dating back to the 1850s. The building, built in 1870, is on the National Register of Historic Places. Whether your ancestors grew up nearby, you were baptized here, or you are just learning about Jessenland for the very first time – all are welcome.

Like those of us whose ancestors from Jessenland have gone before us, we strive to work together to prepare this sacred site for her next chapters and the coming generations. Our mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, share, and celebrate the history and culture of the Jessenland area and the Minnesota River Valley for years to come. Through exhibits, archival projects, community outreach, and partnerships with schools and local organizations, we aim to ensure that the stories and spirit of Jessenland continue to inspire.

We currently seek legacy foundation support to help us get started. Our existing structure and grounds need to be maintained by upgrading essentials like heating and electricity, and we need to preserve features such as our beautiful, ornate windows. We also want to create museum displays, digitize fragile historical documents, and develop educational programming for youth and visitors. Your support will have a profound impact by helping us protect Jessenland’s legacy.
