The Jammin' Pie Fest tradition was born when one family affected by disability realized the value of community but understood that many obstacles limit special needs families from participating in public events. A group of ministry volunteers with gifts of hospitality, a passion for live music and love for pie set out to create and model a fun, disability-sensitive activity where people of all abilities and their families could feel embraced. For five years now, this annual fall festival has been bringing together people living in a wide range of circumstances to facilitate personal refreshment, connections and hope.

Every year, Jammin’ Pie Fest accomplishes many things:

  • Reduces and prevents the sense of isolation people experience when facing life challenges
  • Creates a comfortable, encouraging and accessible space where people from diverse life experiences can enjoy being part of the larger community
  • Fosters relationships and communities where the compassion and truth of Jesus is easily accessible to those who seek it
  • Refreshes spirits, increases hope and improves coping skills so people struggle less and thrive more
Thank you for growing the tradition and helping make memories—memories that are hope-giving and forward-pointing for caregivers and challenged families who often feel isolated, discouraged and weary. The sweet tastes of pie, sounds of lively music and community spirit are always a smash hit! In the back yard, there is freedom for all of us to be ourselves and feel at home even when that includes messes, noise and restlessness.  At Jammin’ Pie Fest, everyone is considered among friends!
