As a member of the Rochester Public Library Foundation board, I have become aware of the tremendous value of the resources our public library provides to our community. Long gone are the days when libraries provided nothing more than books. Besides all the print and digital material that the library has, it is the one place in our community where individuals who need a computer can go to get access to the internet whether it's to look for a job, do homework or connect with family and friends. More than that, our library is a gathering place where you'll find people from all walks of life connecting. With spring in the air, you might be thinking about gardening and if that's the case, our library's seed catalog may be just the place to start gathering seeds to plant. These are just a few of the many services that can be found at the public library. Once the pandemic is under better control, I'm looking forward to when my Rotary club can resume the My Book Day event at the library for first graders. It warms my heart to see these kiddos get their own library card, develop a love for reading and receive their very own book to take home.
