Survivor Resources is fully committed to continue all services, including virtual support groups until this pandemic is over. Our uncertain times add an additional form of grief to people who are already trying to find their new normal through their grief journey. As we “social distance”, the need for continuing support is so needed. In order to keep up with extended hours and the multiple needs of our 10+ weekly support groups, plus the additional needs to reach out to clients who are isolated and not able to use technology to connect, we anticipate an additional $1,000 a week to our annual budget. Any help you can provide will go to direct services provided through virtual, telephone, and safe distancing strategies to meet the needs of our clients daily.
Survivor Resources provides immediate and long-term grief support for family and friends affected by homicide, suicide, accident or overdose death. A non-profit organization, Survivor Resources is housed in the Minneapolis and St. Paul Police Departments. This partnership helps to get vital information for reaching out to families in the worst days of their lives
Within hours after a traumatic death, a staff member can reach out to help with immediate family support and critical decision making guidance. Staff members are available 24/7 to offer crisis support by phone. Weekly support groups (right now being virtual) are available for ongoing grief work. These sessions are led by trained facilitators and staff who have experienced the loss of a loved one as well.
