As Mizna enters this spring season, the new administration has brought a multitude of legislative and executive orders that directly threaten the survival of arts organizations like Mizna. We continue to promote and preserve Arab & SWANA creative voices through literature, film, and visual arts programming.
Mizna is following the changes to National Endowment for the Arts guidelines that specifically target diversity and gender equality initiatives while federal funds for programming that addresses racial justice, immigration, or cultural identity are being revoked. Pending legislative acts like H.R 9495 would give Treasury officials power to label nonprofits as “terrorist-supporting,” putting organizations speaking out against genocide or with international ties at risk.
