Failing to pay the fines and fees imposed by the criminal legal system can put a person's ability to drive at risk. Without a valid driver's license, thousands of Minnesotans are legally unable to drive to work, school, doctors appointments or even the grocery store.
A suspended or revoked license is devastating to a recently incarcerated person seeking to reestablish themselves in society. Court fees, fines and the actual cost of license reinstatement can impose an insurmountable barrier to future success.
The Second Chance Coalition helps pay traffic fines and fees for individuals impacted by the criminal legal system through our Driver’s License Reinstatement Microgrant Program.
We are seeking to raise $15,000 in order to continue and EXPAND this program to meet the huge need and to help awardees move forward with their lives. Your donation will have a direct, immediate, and lasting impact.
You multiply your impact when you give by midnight on November 17th! An anonymous donor has pledged to match your gift dollar for dollar up to $5,000 AND our own Board President Trace Ludewig has pledged to match every gift up to $3,000! That means that all gifts up to $3,000 will be TRIPLED and gifts from $3,000-$5,000 will be DOUBLED.
