In North Minneapolis, students who are proficient in reading by 3rd grade are four times more likely to graduate than students who are not proficient readers by that time. KIPP is leveraging every resource available to make sure KIPPsters succeed in literacy.
We have multiple initiatives in place at our schools:
1. Guided reading. Our guided reading block is designed to ensure each student has time set aside to read every day and receives supplemental support if necessary.
2. Literacy Matters. Our partner since 2018, Literacy Matters utilizes an evidence-based approach and technology to build a strong foundation of basic literacy skills.
3. New Wave Reading. Our newest reading initiative is a collaboration with Minnesota Viking Stephen Weatherly which utilizes incentives, targeted materials, and regular inspiration and encouragement to engage readers and accelerate literacy outcomes for KIPPsters.
Your gift makes the love of reading possible and supports students on their journey to choice-filled futures. Donate now!
